The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that newly promoted teachers are not required to submit application letters, promotion letters or other documents to have their salaries adjusted to reflect their new ranks.

The clarification follows concerns raised by some newly promoted teachers who said they had been directed to submit various documents to facilitate the processing of their salary adjustments.

In an immediate release issued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, the GES said teachers promoted to new ranks are normally placed automatically on the appropriate salary scale, in line with their new positions.

“This existing practice has not changed,” the Service stated.

The GES has, therefore, directed teachers to disregard requests to submit documents for salary adjustments.

“Teachers are, therefore, to ignore the request to submit any documents for salary adjustments,” the statement said.

Management also appealed for calm as it engages the few regions and districts reportedly requesting such documents.

The GES said it remains committed to ensuring that the established process for salary adjustments following promotions is maintained.
