The Tamale Circuit Court has granted bail to two nurses accused of being connected to the alleged disappearance of a newborn baby at the Salaga Government Hospital in the Savannah Region.
The court, presided over by Her Honour Afua Srakubea Agyeman-Darbu, granted each accused person bail in the sum of GH¢150,000 with two sureties. The two have been charged with conspiracy and abduction and are expected to reappear before the court on July 9, 2026.
The case stems from an incident at the Salaga Government Hospital, where a newborn baby was reported missing under circumstances that are currently under police investigation. The disappearance of the baby sparked concern among residents and family members, with the mother reportedly traumatised by the incident and demanding that the baby be found.

Following preliminary investigations, the two nurses were arrested and subsequently arraigned before the court.
Meanwhile, the Administrator of the Salaga Government Hospital, Mr Aloysius Bakuma, said the facility is fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies in the ongoing investigations.
“The police have visited, and we are cooperating with the investigation,” he stated.
Authorities have yet to provide further details on the whereabouts of the missing baby as investigations continue.
