Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is reportedly receiving medical treatment after an alleged shooting incident near the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena.

According to information available, the incident occurred on Sunday at the residence of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, who was reportedly meeting supporters amid ongoing efforts to succeed his late father, Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo, as leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission.

Sources claim that police personnel from the Dome District Command were called to the scene as tensions escalated.

Witnesses alleged that armed men opened fire on the former MP’s vehicle during the disturbance.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that about 15 rounds of ammunition were discharged and that one of the bullets grazed Ms Safo near the neck.

She was subsequently taken to a medical facility and is said to be in stable condition.

The alleged incident comes against the backdrop of a succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo family following the death of Apostle Emeritus Kwadwo Safo.

Attempts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the next leader of the mission have reportedly been challenged by some family members, with the matter already the subject of legal proceedings.

As of the time of filing this report, the Ghana Police Service had not issued an official statement on the incident, and the circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting remain unclear.

Investigations are expected to be launched to establish the facts and identify those responsible.
