One person has been confirmed dead and several others injured following a head-on collision between a VIP bus and a Toyota Prado at Akyem Sekyere on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
The crash, which occurred at dawn on Thursday, April 2, has forced the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service to divert traffic at both the Apedwa and Asiakwa sections of the highway.
Police say the injured have been rushed to nearby health facilities, where they are receiving treatment.

The accident has triggered a major gridlock, leaving travellers stranded for hours, particularly as many journey across the country ahead of the Easter festivities.
Authorities have advised drivers travelling from Accra to Kumasi to reroute through Kyebi from the Apedwa stretch, while those heading from Kumasi are being diverted through Asiakwa to rejoin the main road at Apedwa.
Police are working with other agencies to tow the accident vehicles, which continue to block the road at the crash scene.
