The National Sports Authority (NSA) has officially congratulated Ghanaian para-athlete Zinabu Issah following her historic silver medal-winning performance at the ongoing Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, describing her achievement as a landmark moment for Ghanaian sport.
In a statement signed by Director General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, the NSA praised Issah for securing Ghana’s first medal of the Games in the Women’s F57 Shot Put, noting that her achievement reflects the determination, resilience and exceptional talent of Ghana’s para-athletes. The Authority said the silver medal has once again placed Ghana on the international sporting stage and serves as an inspiration to athletes across the country.
The statement further highlighted the historical significance of Issah’s performance, recalling that Ghana’s first para-athletics medal at the Commonwealth Games was also won by a Ghanaian para-athlete in New Delhi 2010. According to the NSA, Issah’s latest success continues that proud legacy and demonstrates the growing strength of para sports in Ghana.
As the Commonwealth Games continue in Glasgow, the National Sports Authority also extended words of encouragement to Hayford Addai, who is preparing to compete in the Men’s T47 100 metres. The Authority expressed confidence that Addai has the ability to raise Ghana’s flag even higher and urged him to compete with courage, resilience and national pride.

The NSA further commended Samson Deen, President of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, recognising his leadership and long-term commitment to the development of para sports. The statement acknowledged that Ghana’s recent international successes are the result of years of strategic planning, investment and dedication to creating opportunities for athletes with disabilities to excel on the world stage.
The Authority concluded by wishing every member of Team Ghana success in their remaining events at the ongoing Commonwealth Games, expressing confidence that the athletes will continue to make the nation proud through outstanding performances.
With Zinabu Issah already delivering Ghana’s first podium finish in Glasgow and several para-athletes still in action, hopes remain high that Team Ghana can add more medals before the curtain falls on the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
