The Ministry of Education is set to convene a landmark National Conference on Stemming Indiscipline in Senior High Schools from Wednesday, July 29 to Thursday, July 30, 2026, in Sunyani, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on practical and sustainable solutions to the growing challenge of indiscipline in Ghana’s second-cycle institutions.
Ahead of the conference, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, held a strategic engagement with members of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) to discuss the state of discipline in senior high schools and the collective responsibility required to restore discipline, character and academic excellence within the education system.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the Minister to welcome distinguished guests and stakeholders who will participate in the national dialogue.

The conference is expected to serve as a broad-based consultative platform, bringing together education administrators, teachers, students, parents, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations, security agencies and development partners to examine the root causes of indiscipline and propose practical interventions.
Deliberations and recommendations from the conference will form the basis of a comprehensive policy paper to guide the Ministry of Education in developing a coordinated national framework to address indiscipline in senior high schools and strengthen values-based education across the country.
The Ministry is confident that the conference will mark a significant step towards building safer, more disciplined and academically conducive learning environments for all Ghanaian students.
