Kim Kardashian is not letting the critics win. After last year’s legal drama ‘All’s Fair’ was savaged by reviewers and described as one of the worst TV dramas ever made, the reality star-turned-actress is embracing the backlash and returning for a second season.

The show, which was intended to be Kardashian’s triumphant debut as a leading actress, came under heavy criticism for its poor acting, with Kardashian bearing the brunt of the negative reviews. The Hollywood Reporter described her performance as “wooden”, while The Times declared the show “may be the worst TV drama ever”.

However, rather than walking away, the 46-year-old says she had no choice but to “lean into” the criticism and return stronger.

“What is the alternative, right? What is the other choice that you have when you’re getting criticised? Do you just fall in and feel that, or keep your head down and try better, try harder and try a different path?” Kardashian told the BBC.

Ironically, the negative reviews turned into a major boost for the show. Audiences flocked to see what all the fuss was about, and All’s Fair broke streaming records despite the criticism.

Now, Kardashian says the show is fully embracing viewers’ reactions.

“We thought we were this law show, dealing with some really serious issues,” she joked. “We’re a full comedy now.”

The series follows a group of divorce lawyers, played by Kardashian, Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts and Niecy Nash-Betts. The second season is expected to lean further into the humour and self-awareness that made the first season a viral sensation.

Having been in the spotlight for more than 20 years, Kardashian says she has learned to protect her mental health by brushing off those who seek to bring her down.

“I always do things that are tough because I genuinely want to learn,” she said.

For Kardashian, season two is not about proving the critics wrong, but about proving to herself that she can keep going.
