Ivory Coast winger Simon Adingra has completed a season-long loan move from Sunderland to Ajax Amsterdam, with the Dutch club holding an option to buy him at the end of the 2026/27 campaign. In his first interview as an Ajax player, the 24-year-old said he hopes to replicate the impact fellow Right To Dream Academy product Mohammed Kudus had at the club.english.

Adingra praised Ajax’s environment and playing style, saying it suits his strengths in one-on-one situations and possession-based football. “Ajax is a good environment and also the style of play I think it fits my style… I hope I can do just as well here as Mohammed Kudus,” he said.

Kudus benchmark: 27 goals, 12 assists in 87 games
During his three seasons at Ajax (2020–2023), Kudus scored 27 goals and added 12 assists in 87 appearances across all competitions, winning two Eredivisie titles and the KNVB Cup before moving to the Premier League. Adingra, a 2023 AFCON winner, spent part of last season on loan at Monaco after struggling for regular minutes at Sunderland.
Deal details
Ajax paid Sunderland a reported €3.8 million (£3.3 million) loan fee and can make the transfer permanent for around €16 million (£13.7 million) next summer. Technical director Jordi Cruyff said Adingra brings “pace, penetration and a strong mentality” to a squad looking to restore its attacking threat.
