The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and the Commonwealth Games Federation Ghana have officially launched the Ghana House project ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games to be held in the United Kingdom.

The initiative is designed to serve as a central hub and Team Ghana’s home away from home during the Games.

Ghana House will serve as a cultural centre for athletes, officials, diaspora partners and fans to celebrate Ghana’s heritage, showcase its talent and rally behind the country’s athletes at the Games.

Speaking at the launch, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, outlined the strategic benefits of promoting Ghana House before and during the Games in Glasgow in July 2026.

He explained that Ghana House would provide Ghana with a strong physical presence throughout the Games and create a space where athletes, officials, investors and the media could interact, strengthening both sporting and diplomatic engagement.

According to the minister, Ghana House will also serve as a platform to showcase the country’s culture, tourism potential and investment opportunities to a global audience. He said such exposure could lead to long-term partnerships beyond the competition.

Chairman of the Ghana House Committee and former Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Kobby Woyome, said the initiative aims to unite Ghanaians who will travel to support the country at the Games, make them feel at home and inspire athletes to perform well for Ghana.

In a presentation to conclude the launch, Mr Woyome also highlighted the potential of Ghana House to boost tourism, strengthen diplomatic relations and create economic opportunities during the Games.

The event was attended by several high-profile personalities, including Presidential Advisor and former Finance Minister Seth Terkper, Sports Minister Kofi Adams, a representative of the UK High Commission, Hooman Nouruzi, and officials from the Ghana Tourism Authority, among others.
