Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has departed Ghana for Washington, D.C., in the United States, to participate in the Sister Cities International 70th Anniversary Homecoming Conference on July 23, 2026.
The Vice President will serve as the Special Guest of Honour and deliver the Opening Plenary Keynote Address on the theme: “Forging Stronger Partnerships in Africa for Sustainable Economic Development through Sister Cities Global Partnerships Agenda.”

Her participation marks a historic moment, as she becomes the first leader from outside the United States to deliver the opening keynote address at a global Sister Cities International conference.
The conference will bring together government leaders, mayors, diplomats, business executives, development partners and civil society representatives from across the world to strengthen international cooperation, citizen diplomacy and sustainable development.
The programme will feature high-level policy discussions, investment forums, networking sessions and a dedicated Africa Forum aimed at deepening partnerships between African communities and their global counterparts.
