Referees robbed us- Barcelona’s Raphinha after Champions League Exit

FC Barcelona captain Raphinha has delivered a strong assessment of officiating in the club’s double header against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona lost 3-2 on aggregate to fellow Spanish side Atletico to crash out of the competition at the quarterfinal stage. Barcelona lost 2-0 in the first leg and won 2-1 in the second leg.


In both games, Barcelona had a player sent off, with Pau Cubarsi dismissed from the first leg while Eric Garcia was red carded in the second leg.

Speaking after the game to the media, Raphinha who missed both games due to injury, didn’t mince words while grading refereeing in the quarterfinal tie.

“For me, this match was a robbery. Not just this match but the other one as well. The refereeing was really bad, the decisions [Clement Turpin] makes are unbelievable.”

“I don’t know how many fouls Atletico made but the referee didn’t give them a single yellow card. I really want to understand why they’re so afraid that Barcelona will come and win” Raphinha said.
