The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of deploying thugs at the Wenchi Presby electoral area in the ongoing Akwatia by-election.
Mr. Mustapha alleged that the presence of the âmachomenâ was an attempt to intimidate voters and suppress turnout. âThis is our stronghold, so you can understand the attempts to suppress votes so that they take advantage of it. I will not allow that. The process is still ongoing, and I can see the security beefing up; that is fair and acceptable.
âYou can see NDC machomen men behind us, they claimed they didnât bring âmachomenâ, they have brought in âmachomenâ. They should stop the hypocrisy that they didnât bring in âmachomenâ and so on and so forth,â he claimed.
He, however, expressed optimism that the security agencies would maintain order. âIâm hoping that the security will be up to the task and be able to hold forth. So far, itâs okay,â he added.
