The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially inaugurated a nine-member National Elections Committee to oversee its upcoming national executive elections.
The committee is chaired by former Member of Parliament for the Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region, Frederick Opare-Ansah.
The members were unveiled at a brief ceremony held at the party’s national headquarters in Accra.
The committee has been tasked with organising, planning and supervising the national executive elections scheduled for September 19, 2026.
Speaking at the inauguration, the NPP’s Acting National Chairman, Danquah Smith Butey, urged the committee to ensure a transparent, free and fair electoral process.
He emphasised that internal unity is critical to the party’s success ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The committee is made up of experienced party stalwarts and legal professionals.
The members are:
- Chairman: Frederick Opare-Ansah
- Vice Chairperson: Abena Osei Asare (MP for Atiwa East)
- Secretary: Evans Nimako
- Member: Oboshie Sai Cofie
- Member: Anthony Abayifa Karbo
- Member: Salam Ama Appianin Damata
- Member: Eric Ntori
- Member: Frank Davies
The ninth member will be a representative from the Ashanti Region, who will be appointed after the party’s regional elections.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Opare-Ansah pledged that the committee would remain strictly neutral throughout the electoral process.
He also assured party members that the committee would engage all aspirants and stakeholders openly to resolve grievances before, during and after the elections.
The committee is expected to announce the official timetable and guidelines for nominations in the coming weeks.
