The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) recently marked a significant milestone, celebrating 50 years of musical excellence at a Golden Jubilee Soirée held at the Labadi Beach Hotel. The event brought together government leaders, traditional authorities, industry veterans, creatives, and music enthusiasts to honor MUSIGA’s legacy and envision a bright future for the creative arts.
Delivering a heartfelt address, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Hon. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the creative economy, highlighting the industry’s significant contribution to Ghana’s GDP and global identity. She announced key initiatives, including a GHS 20 million Creative Arts Fund, strengthened copyright systems, and partnerships with digital platforms to support creators.

MUSIGA President Bessa Simons expressed gratitude to members, partners, and pioneers, reaffirming the union’s commitment to nurturing talent and strengthening Ghana’s creative future. The evening featured performances by celebrated Ghanaian musicians, a tribute to highlife legends, and the launch and auction of the MUSIGA@50 Commemorative Book.

Hon. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo emphasized the importance of embracing technology, AI, digital distribution, and global collaborations, stating, “this is the time for Ghana to take its rightful place on the global creative stage”.
