The Eastern Vultures have taken keen interest in the conduct and outcome of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Primaries held on 7th February 2026 in the Ayawaso East Constituency, which reportedly produced Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, former Member of Parliament for Akwatia, as the winner.

As the NDC prepares to present a candidate for the 3 March 2026 parliamentary by-election, the process that led to this outcome has been gravely tainted by widespread and disturbing allegations of vote-buying.

These allegations are supported by clear and compelling evidence circulating extensively across traditional and social media platforms.

This troubling development has rightly compelled the national leadership of the NDC to initiate investigations into the matter.

In a statement issued and signed by the Convener and Chairman of the group, Mr. David Prah, the Eastern Vultures stated that, having critically assessed available evidence from both traditional media and social media sources, they unequivocally condemn this brazen assault on internal party democracy.

The Eastern Vultures therefore call on the leadership of the NDC to immediately annul the results of the Ayawaso East Parliamentary Primaries.

“What transpired represents a shameful chapter in Ghana’s democratic journey and must not be whitewashed under any circumstances,” the statement noted.

The group further demands the swift prosecution of all aspirants and individuals found culpable at the conclusion of the party’s investigations, stressing that such action is necessary to serve as a strong deterrent to those who habitually seek to buy their way into political power despite an evident lack of competence or credibility.

According to the statement, any attempt by the NDC to accept what it describes as fraudulent results or to fail to act decisively would send a dangerous signal to the international community, suggesting that corruption has become institutionalised within Ghana’s political system.

The Eastern Vultures maintain that failure to prosecute those involved in these corrupt acts will severely damage Ghana’s democratic reputation and negatively affect the country’s diplomatic standing within the global community of nations.
