Coach Ofori Asare’s boxing kits allegation is false – Charles Osei Assibey

Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Communications Director Charles Osei Assibey has criticised Black Bombers head coach Osei Asare over claims that some Ghanaian boxers had to share kits at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Asibey made the remarks in an exclusive interview on Citi FM’s  Sports Panorama following Ghana’s disappointing campaign at the Games.

.However, Charles Osei Asibey said that Ghana’s performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games was good, Assibey strongly rejected Asare’s claim that three boxers had been forced to share the same kit during the competition. (Click highlighted text to watch video)

“If you train boxers for three months and you did not raise these concerns for them to be resolved and after that dismal or abysmal performance, you come to raise these concerns, then your integrity is at stake.”

“All I can say is that, it’s political, it’s a fabrication and I think it’s false. I am speaking because there is also the perception that when they speak and you don’t say anything, it is assumed to be the truth” Charles Osei Asibey said.
