The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested 10 suspects in an intelligence-led operation at Mataheko, Afienya, after uncovering what investigators describe as a cybercrime hideout linked to human trafficking.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, CID Director-General, Commissioner of Police (COP) Lydia Yaako Donkor, said police intelligence led officers to an apartment allegedly being used as a base for internet-related fraud.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspected leader of the group, Collins Francis Olayi Ojo, allegedly arranged for nine Nigerian nationals to travel by road from Nigeria to Ghana before forcing them to engage in cyber-enabled fraudulent activities.
Police identified the nine Nigerians as victims of human trafficking and have since rescued them and placed them in a safe location where they are receiving the necessary care and support.

During the operation, officers recovered 28 laptop computers and nine mobile phones, which have been taken for digital forensic examination as part of ongoing investigations.
COP Donkor said the arrests form part of a nationwide crackdown on cyber-enabled crime and human trafficking.
She urged members of the public to remain alert and report suspicious activities through the Ghana Police Service’s “See Something, Say Something” campaign.
The CID Director-General said investigations are continuing to identify other people connected to the syndicate and bring them to justice.
