The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has welcomed Nana Akyaa Amoah-Amissah as its new Acting Deputy Administrator, effective December 4, 2025. She brings over 20 years of experience in technology and finance, with a background in global companies like Meta, Google, and WhatsApp.
Amoah-Amissah previously served as Global Director at Meta, focusing on fair and inclusive business practices. She succeeds Abdul-Aziz Mohammed, who resigned earlier this year.
Mrs. Amoah-Amissah brings a wealth of international experience to her new role. She was most recently Global Director of Business and Product Equity Partnerships and Programmes at Meta, focusing on fair and inclusive business practices. Prior to that, she held several leadership roles at Google, overseeing government, education, and mobile partnerships in Africa, as well as business development in the UK and global operations in the US.
In 2020, she became the first Black female Director at WhatsApp and was named a top woman leader in San Francisco in 2024. She holds a BA in Economics from Tufts University and an MBA with honours from the University of Oxford.
Minister for Communications, Digitalisation, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, emphasized the importance of collaboration between Amoah-Amissah and Acting Administrator, Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer, to drive GIFEC’s mission. Amoah-Amissah pledged to advance GIFEC’s mandate through strong teamwork.
This appointment aligns with the government’s efforts to enhance digital connectivity and inclusion in Ghana, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
