The countdown to the FIFA World Cup 2026 has reached a significant milestone with the unveiling of Trionda, the tournament’s Official Match Ball. Designed by Adidas, Trionda is a vibrant representation of the three host nations – Canada, Mexico, and the United States – coming together for the first time to host the prestigious event.
The name “Trionda” is derived from the Spanish words “tri” meaning three and “onda” meaning wave, symbolizing the unity of the three host countries. This unity is reflected in the ball’s design, which features a unique four-panel construction forming a triangle at the center. The colors red, green, and blue pay homage to the host nations, with the maple leaf, eagle, and star iconography representing each country. Gold highlights reflect the FIFA World Cup Trophy’s prestige.
In terms of performance, Trionda boasts cutting-edge features. Deep seams provide optimal in-flight stability by managing air drag. Embossed icons improve grip in wet conditions. Additionally, the ball includes a 500Hz motion sensor chip that supplies real-time data to the video assistant referee system, enhancing match decisions like offsides.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised Trionda’s design, describing it as an iconic symbol of unity and excitement. He expressed eagerness to see the ball in action at the “greatest FIFA World Cup ever,” highlighting its role in the tournament’s growing anticipation.
The launch of Trionda sets the tone for the upcoming months leading to the tournament, with important qualifiers underway and the Final Draw scheduled for December 5, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
