The Savannah Regional Police Intelligence Department has arrested 22 Togolese nationals suspected of illegal mining in the West Gonja Municipality.
The arrests were made on Friday, January 23, 2026 when police intercepted a Kia truck, registration BA 223-12, driven by Abdul Majeed Yakubu.
The occupants told officers they were travelling to Tuntumba, a community known for illegal mining, to engage in galamsey activities.
