The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has established a 24-hour Customer Care Desk to promptly address customer concerns and improve overall service delivery. This initiative aims to foster collaboration, teamwork, and unity among hospital staff and clients, while enhancing communication and responsiveness.
The launch of the Customer Care Desk is part of TTH’s efforts to strengthen its customer care system, which includes training staff in leadership, communication, and customer care. The hospital has also made significant progress in upgrading its clinical infrastructure and supplies, including the acquisition of medical equipment and consumables.
TTH’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Abubakari Bawah Abdulai, emphasized the importance of personal commitment from staff in delivering excellent customer service, stating that “respect, empathy, and professionalism must guide our daily practice”.

He said the supply of cleaning materials had improved to ensure sanitation and hygiene at the facility, adding that collaboration had been strengthened with the Ghana Water Company Limited to improve water availability at the hospital.
He said oxygen ports across various wards and emergency units had been significantly increased to enhance safety, emergency response and quality of clinical care delivery.
Dr Abdulai highlighted progress made in strengthening clinical infrastructure and supplies, saying the hospital had received medical equipment and consumables over the past months including anaesthesia machines, ventilators and other essential supplies, which had been deployed to the respective units and departments for immediate use.
He said the number of beds at the emergency department has increased, helping to reduce persistent “no-bed syndrome” and improving patient flow and emergency care.
Dr Abdulai entreated all employees to exhibit a high level of discipline in their work, assuring them that the Governing Board and Management remained committed to improving working conditions, investing in the system and recognizing outstanding performance.
