The Director of the Media and Advocacy Centre for Democracy and Development, Dr. Michael Yaw Boakye-Danquah, has praised Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin’s apology to the Judiciary, calling it a demonstration of true leadership. The apology followed a heated exchange between the two arms of government, with Bagbin acknowledging that his comments about the Chief Justice were unacceptable and apologizing unreservedly.
Boakye-Danquah commended the Speaker’s willingness to admit fault and apologize, stating that it shows he is a true leader who puts the nation’s interest above personal pride. He also noted that the apology has helped to douse tensions between the Legislature and the Judiciary, and that it’s a sign of strength, not weakness, to admit when one is wrong.
The apology has been welcomed by many, with calls for calm and collaboration between the two arms of government. Boakye-Danquah emphasized that the Speaker’s apology demonstrates his commitment to maintaining the dignity of his office and promoting national interest.
