The 2026 Budget Statement presented by Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has set aside GH¢1.98 billion to fund the School Feeding Programme, a key initiative aimed at improving nutrition and learning outcomes for students across Ghana.

Dr. Forson explained that the programme not only addresses hunger among schoolchildren but also encourages consistent attendance and supports local farmers by sourcing food from Ghanaian producers.

“This allocation underscores our commitment to ensuring that every child has access to nutritious meals while in school, promoting both health and education,” he said.

The infusion of funds is expected to expand coverage and enhance the quality of meals provided, strengthening the government’s broader efforts to improve education and child welfare nationwide.
