President John Dramani Mahama has tasked Ghana’s newly appointed envoys to leverage diplomacy in advancing his government’s reset agenda, aimed at restoring hope, rebuilding trust, and creating sustainable prosperity. Speaking at an orientation program in Accra on September 1, 2025, under the theme “Harnessing the Dividends of Diplomacy for Ghana’s Reset Agenda”, President Mahama emphasized the critical role of foreign relations in achieving national transformation ¹.

The reset agenda, born out of Ghana’s economic crisis and erosion of public confidence prior to the 2024 elections, focuses on creating decent, dignified, and sustainable jobs for Ghanaians. Key initiatives already underway include.

24-Hour Economy: Aimed at boosting economic activity and job creation

Women’s Development Bank: Providing credit to Ghanaian women to engage in business activities and improve their livelihoods

President Mahama stressed that the success of these initiatives depends on partnerships cultivated abroad, particularly in attracting capital, technology, markets, and knowledge. He charged the envoys to ensure every engagement abroad translates into real opportunities for Ghanaians ¹.

The orientation program brought together Ghana’s new ambassadors, high commissioners, and consuls-general, aligning with the government’s efforts to realign the country’s diplomatic mission with its economic transformation goals. The President emphasized that diplomacy must deliver tangible benefits for citizens, including job creation, expanded markets for local products, technological advancement, and greater dignity and prosperity for Ghanaians
