The Ghana Police Service has increased its presence in the Akwatia constituency ahead of the September 2 by-election, deploying 5,500 personnel to ensure a peaceful and secure environment. As part of their reassurance measures, officers embarked on coordinated marches through the streets.
According to Director of Operations, COP Vance Baba Gariba, the officers will prioritize community outreach, encouraging citizens to feel safe and secure as they go about their daily activities. A contingent of approximately 600 officers has undergone a five-day training program at the High Risk Operations Training Centre (HROT-C) in Akyeremanteng.
The training included tactical drills such as rappelling, precision shooting, vehicle stop-and-search operations, crowd control, and human rights awareness. The police are committed to maintaining law and order during the by-election, ensuring the safety of all residents and stakeholders.
