Hon. Seth Panwum Boyoyo, former Board Chairman and Acting Director General of the National Sports Authority, has launched a scathing attack on Black Stars coach Otto Addo following Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Boyoyo believes Addo is not the right man to lead the national team, citing his inability to deliver impressive results.
“Not the Right Man for the Job”
“We had no business keeping him,” Boyoyo fumed, questioning Addo’s competence as a coach. He further accused Addo of lacking passion for the country, urging him to step aside before the situation worsens. “He doesn’t love Ghana, he should admit he has failed us and resign. Ghanaian fans won’t forgive him if he messes with this World Cup qualifiers,” he added.
The draw against Chad has sparked widespread criticism from fans and pundits alike, with many questioning the team’s preparation and tactical approach under Addo. Ghana now faces mounting pressure as they head into a decisive clash with Mali on Monday, which is viewed as a must-win if they are to keep their World Cup dream alive.
Addo’s future with the Black Stars hangs in the balance, with growing doubts over his technical direction of the team. Despite Ghana’s strong position atop Group I with 15 points, the recent draw has fueled calls for his dismissal. The team’s next match against Mali will be crucial in determining their qualification prospect.
