Dr. Razak Kojo Opoku, a political analyst and founding President of UP Institute, has urged the NPP to engage in a truthful reflection and make strategic decisions regarding its 2028 presidential ticket, leadership, and party structures. According to Dr. Opoku, the party’s performance in the 2024 elections was its worst since 1992, emphasizing the need for introspection and renewal.

The NPP’s defeat has been attributed to various factors, including the economic crisis, high inflation, unemployment, and public dissatisfaction with governance. A post-election poll revealed that 68% of respondents held former President Nana Akufo-Addo responsible for the party’s defeat.

The NPP will likely face significant challenges in rebuilding its support and regaining power in the next elections. To revitalize its base and appeal to a broader audience, the party must address its internal weaknesses and develop a more effective strategy to connect with voters.

As Ghana’s political landscape continues to evolve, the NPP’s ability to adapt and respond to the needs of its citizens will be crucial in determining its future success.
