The 2026 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary is shaping up to be a closely contested race, according to Global InfoAnalytics Executive Director Mussa Dankwah. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s 2024 presidential candidate, currently leads with 45% support among delegates, while Kennedy Agyapong has gained momentum with 31% support.
According to the poll, Dr Bawumia—who has led the organization’s monthly surveys since they began—remains in a commanding position and has moved closer to the 50 per cent mark with one month left to the election.
Dankwah notes that Agyapong’s rise hasn’t come at Bawumia’s expense, but rather from undecided delegates. The poll also shows that 20% of delegates remain undecided or undisclosed, holding the key to the outcome.
The poll was conducted through a random computer-assisted telephone interview of about 3,000 delegates.
It showed that Mr Agyapong made a 13 percentage-point gain compared to his November performance, while Dr Bawumia increased his support by two percentage points, moving closer to the 50 per cent threshold.
Other contenders, including Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and Dr. Bryan Acheampong, trail behind with negligible support. The NPP is scheduled to hold its presidential primary on January 31, 2026.
