The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Elections Committee has announced the successful completion of its nationwide voter album verification and validation exercise in preparation for the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
At a press conference held on Thursday, November 6, at the party’s headquarters in Accra, Committee Chairman, Joseph Osei Owusu, disclosed that all presidential aspirants will receive the provisional voter register on Thursday, November 13, 2025, allowing for a two-week period of verification and feedback before the final list is confirmed.
The exercise covered all constituencies and external branches of the party, and although minor administrative errors were identified, they did not affect the integrity or credibility of the voter register. The process confirmed the removal of delegates who had passed away or lost their membership, in accordance with Article 3(9)(1) of the NPP Constitution.
The five aspirants contesting for the party’s flagbearer slot are:
- Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central
- Dr. Bryan Acheampong, former Minister for Food and Agriculture
- Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President
- Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister for Education
- Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former Press Secretary to President John Agyekum Kufuor
The Committee outlined measures to ensure transparency and fairness on election day, including exclusive control of election security by the Ghana Police Service and full supervision by the Electoral Commission (EC).
