Nigeria’s captain William Troost-Ekong has put aside the team’s bonus dispute, declaring the squad is “united and focused” ahead of their crucial World Cup playoff against Gabon. The Super Eagles had threatened to boycott training over unpaid bonuses, but the issue was resolved after intervention from the National Sports Commission.
Troost-Ekong emphasized the team’s determination to represent Nigeria with maximum effort, tweeting, “Issue resolved. Outstanding financials cleared and on ground. The team is united and focused as before on representing Nigeria with our maximum effort for the games ahead” ².
The Super Eagles face Gabon today, November 13, 2025, at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco, with a spot in the intercontinental playoffs on the line. The winner will advance to the final against the winner of Cameroon vs DR Congo.
