Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has praised President John Mahama’s government, describing its performance as “excellent” after almost ten months in office. Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Ayariga highlighted several achievements of the current administration, including the stabilization of the Ghanaian cedi, which has gained strength and stabilized, single-digit inflation, which has made life more affordable for ordinary Ghanaians, a stable power supply, with electricity remaining consistent and empowering growth, and an economic upgrade by Fitch, reflecting positive economic gains.

The government has also made significant strides in debt management, paying its debts and avoiding needless borrowing. Ayariga emphasized that the administration’s efforts have led to Ghana gaining economic respectability globally.

In contrast, Ayariga described the Minority Members of Parliament as “minuscule” following the NPP’s loss in the Akwatia by-election and their decision not to contest the Tamale Central by-election. The NDC Majority has grown to 185 members, with the support of four independent members, forming a “gargantuan majority”. The current parliamentary composition stands at 185 NDC members, 87 NPP members, and 4 independent members.
