Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has called for support for Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens, as they prepare to take on Egypt in the second leg of the final round of qualifiers for the 2026 Women’s AFCON. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, at 15:30 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite Ghana holding a 3-0 lead on aggregate, Adams believes the team still needs support from all stakeholders, including fans. “Yes they-the Black Queens- are leading 3-0 but they still need our presence at the stadium to give them that necessary support to energize them and for them to be able to do what we expect from them,” he said. Adams emphasized the importance of qualifying for the AFCON and doing well in the competition, which serves as a pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Black Queens will face Egypt on October 28, at 15:30 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium. Ghana currently leads 3-0, but Adams believes the team still needs support to secure qualification. The team aims to qualify for the 2026 Women’s AFCON, which takes place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, and ultimately secure a ticket to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Kofi Adams is urging fans to rally behind the team and provide the necessary support to help them achieve their goal.

The Black Queens are seeking to build on their third-place finish at the 2024 AFCON. However, their preparations for the Egypt match were hit by a protest over unpaid bonuses. The Ghana Football Association has since urged fans to rally behind the team and provide the necessary support.
