A young man was seriously injured after being hit by the 001 train on the Tema-Mpakadan rail line today. The incident occurred when the man failed to move away from the edge of the track as the train approached, despite the train sounding its horn repeatedly. Eyewitnesses reported that the man appeared mentally sound at the time of the incident.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to provide medical attention to the injured man. This incident comes as the Tema-Mpakadan train service has faced four stone-throwing attacks since commercial operations began on October 1, 2025. The Ghana Railway Development Authority has emphasized the importance of safety near railway lines and urged pedestrians to remain vigilant.
The GRDA has also suggested that recent attacks on the train service could be retaliatory acts linked to efforts to remove encroachers along the railway corridor.
