Kurt Okraku Leads FIFA’s Fight Against Racism and Discrimination

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President and 2nd Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has been appointed Chairperson of the FIFA Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee for a four-year term from 2025 to 2029. This prestigious appointment underscores his exceptional leadership and Ghana’s growing influence in global football governance.

As Chairperson, Okraku will spearhead FIFA’s strategic initiatives and reforms focused on combating racism and all forms of discrimination in football worldwide. His leadership is expected to advance equality, inclusivity, and respect at all levels of the sport, from grassroots to professional competitions. He will be supported by Mark Wade of Bermuda, appointed as Deputy Chairperson, alongside 19 other members representing FIFA’s diverse Member Associations.

With his extensive background in football management and administration, Okraku is well-suited for this role. He has driven reforms that have enhanced growth, transparency, and development in Ghanaian football since becoming GFA President in 2019. Prior to his current position, he served two terms as President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B and holds the position of 2nd Vice President of CAF, making him the third-highest official in the Confederation.

Okraku’s academic credentials include an MBA in Football Administration from the University of Liverpool, as well as additional qualifications in journalism, business administration, and tourism. These qualifications, combined with his experience as Communications and Marketing Manager for Accra Hearts of Oak, equip him with the strategic expertise necessary for modern football governance.

This appointment reflects FIFA’s confidence in Okraku’s vision, leadership, and commitment to using football as a platform for unity and social transformation.
