The Korwor Municipal Assembly, with support from the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), observed National Sanitation Day by undertaking a comprehensive clean-up exercise across the municipality. This initiative, part of the government’s effort to improve sanitation practices nationwide, saw residents, traders, and stakeholders come together to keep their community clean.

The assembly’s clean-up efforts focused on several key activities. They cleaned major streets, removing trash and debris to improve the town’s appearance and reduce flooding. This activity not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal of the area but also helped to prevent flooding, which can be a major problem during the rainy season. Teams also desilted drainage systems to prevent blockages and ensure smooth water flow. This activity is crucial in preventing flooding and reducing the risk of waterborne diseases. Residents were encouraged to participate in the clean-up exercise, promoting a sense of community responsibility for environmental hygiene.

The National Sanitation Day initiative, relaunched by President John Dramani Mahama, aims to promote collective responsibility for environmental hygiene and improve sanitation practices across the country. The exercise is observed on the first Saturday of each month, with today’s event marking a significant step towards a cleaner and healthier environment.
