A former Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. Alex Ampaabeng, has thrown his support behind Kennedy Agyapong’s presidential bid, citing his unique ability to tackle youth unemployment in Ghana. Speaking during Agyapong’s Volta Regional campaign tour, Dr. Ampaabeng expressed deep concern over the growing number of Ghanaian youth risking their lives in search of jobs abroad.
According to Dr. Ampaabeng, this trend has resulted in countless young lives lost and exposed many Ghanaian women to abuse and humiliation. “It is heartbreaking to see our young men dying in the desert and our young women suffering as housemaids in some Arab countries, where many face mistreatment and unimaginable hardship,” he said. “This must stop — and it will stop with Kennedy Agyapong.”
Dr. Ampaabeng highlighted Kennedy Agyapong’s economic vision, known as Kenomics, which focuses on practical solutions to youth unemployment through industrialization, entrepreneurship, and value addition. “Youth unemployment rests with Ken,” he declared. “He understands what it means to build from nothing. His leadership will empower local industries, open factories, and create jobs that restore dignity to the Ghanaian youth.”
Under Kennedy Agyapong’s leadership, Ghana will transition from an import-dependent economy to one that thrives on local production and exports, ensuring that young people can find meaningful work in every region, including Volta Region. Dr. Ampaabeng emphasized that Agyapong’s leadership will empower the youth, providing them with opportunities to build a better future for themselves and their country.
The message was received with warm applause and emotional approval from delegates, who praised Kennedy Agyapong’s sincerity and focus on real solutions. Dr. Ampaabeng concluded with an appeal, stating that “the days of our young men dying in the desert and our young women suffering abuse abroad must end. With Kennedy Agyapong, that painful story will be history. Ghana will rise again, strong, united, and full of opportunity for its youth.
