Parliament’s Appointments Committee is scheduled to vet Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie for the position of Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana on Monday, November 10, 2025. The vetting session will take place in Committee Rooms 1, 2, and 3 at the New Administration Block, starting at 11:00 a.m. The vetting process will assess Justice Baffoe-Bonnie’s qualifications, experience, and suitability for the position of Chief Justice, before the committee presents its report to the plenary for consideration.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama, and the appointment is subject to parliamentary approval as mandated by the Constitution. If confirmed, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie will take on a critical role in leading Ghana’s Judiciary.
The vetting process is expected to scrutinize the nominee’s credentials and assess his ability to lead the Judiciary. The outcome of the vetting process will determine whether Justice Baffoe-Bonnie is suitable to hold the office of Chief Justice, following the suspension of former Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
