Chelsea Football Club head coach Enzo Maresca has delivered a stinging reaction to Chelsea striker Liam Delap over the former Ipswich Town player’s red card incident in Chelsea’s 4-3 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup.
Delap who missed over a month of football to injury, returned to action by coming off the bench in the second half but ended up picking two quick yellow cards that led to his exit and forced Chelsea to see out the chaotic game with a man down.
Delap replaced Estevao in the 60th minute and picked up his first yellow card for shoving a Wolves defender in the 79th minute.
His second came in the 86th minute and in his post presser according to Football London, Maresca slammed Delap’s behaviour stating,
“Stupid foul, we can avoid that. After the yellow card I told him four or five times to keep calm. But Liam [Delap] is a player that when he’s inside the pitch probably he’ll be playing the game for himself and he struggles to realise and to listen around him.”

Yes, it’s embarrassing when it’s a red card like today. Because it’s two yellow cards in five minutes, 10 minutes…So it’s not good.”

Chelsea take on Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup quarters in December.
