Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says it is painful to squander a big opportunity to move to the summit of the Ghana Premier League standings after failing to beat Basake Holy Stars

The Mauve and Yellow drew 1-1 with Holy Stars at its TNA Stadium to trail league leaders Aduana Stars by a point. Medeama have 27 points while Aduana have 28 points though Medeama have played a game fewer than Aduana.

Medeama have lost just once in 14 games but the draw against Aduana bumped the club’s number of stalemates to six in a game Medeama defender Kamaradini Mamudu won the Man of the Match Award.

Speaking after the game, Ibrahim Tanko reflected on the missed opportunity to scale up to the apex of the standings by stating,

“It’s very painful [to miss out on all three points]. I must say we squandered a lot of chances. We had the chances and normally you have to score…but we have to look at the next game.”

Medeama take on Heart of Lions in Kpando on Saturday, December 27.
