The Government of Ghana has begun processes to extradite a Russian national accused of secretly filming intimate encounters with young women in the country.
The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, confirmed the development in an interview, strongly condemning the alleged acts. She described the incident as unacceptable and a grave violation of the victims’ rights and dignity.
According to the Minister, her ministry is collaborating with the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Communication and Digitalisation, the Russian Embassy in Ghana, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure justice is served. She added that support is also being provided to the affected victims.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing. The Minister disclosed that the ministry is working closely with the Cyber Security Authority to prevent the further circulation of the alleged recordings, safeguard the victims, and address related cybercrime concerns.
She further referenced a nationwide campaign conducted in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in 2025 aimed at combating digital abuse against women and girls.
Dr. Lartey assured the public that the government remains committed to protecting women and children and will pursue all legal avenues to bring those responsible to justice.
