The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has announced the start of the 99th cycle of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) cash grant payments. Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Friday, December 19, 2025, Dr. Lartey said the nationwide disbursement will begin on Monday, December 22, 2025.

The government has released GH¢139.3 million to support about 350,580 beneficiary households, representing nearly 1.5 million Ghanaians. Under the bi-monthly programme, households will receive between GH¢320 and GH¢530, depending on the number of eligible members.

Dr. Lartey emphasized that the timely payment, coming during the Christmas season, will help ease financial pressure on vulnerable households and enable them to celebrate the festive season with dignity. She also announced that the Government has allocated a record GH¢1.1 billion to the LEAP Programme, with plans to expand coverage to 400,000 households in 2026.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the poor and called on all stakeholders to support efforts to reduce extreme poverty in Ghana.
