The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is set to begin drilling operations in the Voltain Basin petroleum block by the first quarter of 2026, according to Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission. This initiative aims to boost Ghana’s petroleum resource base and increase the country’s appeal to global investors.
During a visit to Zeal Environmental Technologies, a local petroleum service provider, Hardcastle emphasized the Petroleum Commission’s efforts to position Ghana as a competitive hub for major oil and gas industry players. She encouraged indigenous service companies like Zeal to prepare for greater involvement in the petroleum value chain, highlighting the need for Ghana to maximize benefits from the upcoming drilling activities.
The Petroleum Commission’s goal is to ensure that Ghana benefits maximally from its petroleum resources. Hardcastle commended Zeal Environmental Technologies for its pioneering role in petroleum waste management and urged the company to seize new opportunities arising from the drilling project. The Founder and Board Chairman of Zeal Environmental Technologies, Kwaku Ennin, expressed appreciation for the Commission’s engagement and called on the government to make Ghana’s oil and gas industry more attractive to investors.
