Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, suffered a 2-0 defeat to Japan in an international friendly match held at Toyota Stadium in Aichi, Japan, on November 14, 2025. The Japanese team dominated the game, scoring two goals, one in each half.

Takumi Minamino opened the scoring in the 16th minute, converting a right-footed shot from the center of the box into the right corner of Ghana’s goal. Japan doubled their lead in the 60th minute through Ritsu Doan, who scored at the near post following a well-executed team play ¹.

The match was marred by a serious injury to Ghanaian midfielder Francis Abu, who was stretchered off the field with an ankle injury. Coach Otto Addo expressed concern over Abu’s condition, stating that the team would provide an update after further medical assessment.

The Black Stars will now focus on their next friendly match against South Korea on November 18, 2025, as they continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
