The daily minimum wage in Ghana for 2026 is GH¢21.77, effective January 1, 2026, representing a 9% increase from the 2025 rate of GH¢19.97. This adjustment aims to balance workers’ welfare and business sustainability, considering the country’s economic environment and cost of living. The National Tripartite Committee recommends exempting the 2026 daily minimum wage from taxation to ease the financial burden on workers.

The decision considers the country’s cost of living and economic environment.

The agreement was signed by Labour Minister Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and representatives of employers and labour unions. The Committee aims to balance workers’ welfare and business sustainability.

Establishments paying below the new rate must adjust accordingly, or face sanctions. The 2026 daily minimum wage is also exempt from taxation, easing the financial burden on workers.
