Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has assured Ghanaian football fans of improved travel arrangements ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ghana’s Black Stars booked their place at the global tournament with a narrow 1–0 victory over Comoros on Sunday, October 12, in Accra.
The Minister congratulated the team and announced plans to use Ghana’s strong diplomatic relations with the host nations — the United States, Canada, and Mexico — to secure favorable visa quotas for supporters. Specifically, Mr. Ablakwa aims to:

- Secure appreciable visa quotas for Ghanaian fans through diplomatic efforts.
- Leverage improved diplomatic relations with the host nations to guarantee smooth travel arrangements.
The Minister expressed his excitement on social media, saying, “Congratulations to the Black Stars on Ghana’s emphatic 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification. Ghanaians can be fully assured that the Foreign Ministry under my leadership shall leverage our improved cordial diplomatic relations with the United States, Canada, and Mexico to guarantee appreciable visa quotas for our globally acclaimed football fans. GHANA, here we come!”

This development marks a significant step in ensuring that Ghanaian fans can support their team in large numbers at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
