Dr. Jebuntie Zaato, Senior Lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana has said Ghana will be safe under former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and NPP flagbearer aspirant if he becomes President.

Speaking in an interview on TV3’s The Key Point, Saturday, October 25, 2025, Dr. Zaato noted that Dr. Bawumia has a proven track record while he served as Vice President under Akufo-Addo and will demonstrate a stellar performance if he becomes President.

“If you look at the current Vice President of Ghana, she is anonymous…What Dr. Bawumia has achieved and his policies are ringing policies right now all over the country that are being implemented right now by the NDC government that were borne out of the hard work he did.

“He, himself will tell you that he fought battles, he won some, he lost some. And then if you look at it you begin to relies how he was one of the most phenomenal, one of the most transformational Vice President that we had and Ghana will be very safe in Dr. Bawumia’s hands,” he stated.

Dr. Zaato further argued that Dr. Bawumia stands a better chance to win the 2028 General election against any NDC representative including Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Haruna Iddrisu, Dr. Ato Forson and Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

“I sit here and look at the NDC’ bench, I look at the people that the NDC will present; Dr. Ato Forson, the sitting Vice President, Haruna Iddrisu, General Mosquito, none of those stand a dog’s chance against Dr. Bawumia. With his stellar performance, he will beat all of them, they are all light weight and they are all rookies,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, a private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu has said that the outcome of the 2028 presidential election will be decided the moment the New Patriotic Party (NPP) elects Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as its flagbearer.

According to him, Bawumia has lost favour with the ordinary Ghanaian.

“Bawumia was part of Akufo-Addo’s government which imposed hardship on Ghanaians. The elections are decided by floating voters. These people are not happy with Bawumia and Akufo-Addo. If the NPP elects Bawumia, Bawumia will give NDC cheap victory,” he said on the KeyPoints on TV3, on October 25.
