Ghana’s Lands Minister and Acting Environment Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has called on world leaders to partner with Ghana and Africa to achieve clean and sustainable energy globally. Speaking at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, he emphasized Africa’s potential to drive transformative change in the world’s energy future, citing its rich solar, wind, and hydropower resources.
“We stand ready to be a powerhouse of green energy for the world. But we cannot do it alone,” Armah-Kofi Buah said, urging developed partners to match Africa’s ambition with action. He stressed the need for predictable climate finance, technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence to accelerate justice, equity, and shared prosperity.
The Minister highlighted Ghana’s readiness to play a central role in addressing the climate crisis and called for deeper partnerships. “The African position is clear. We are not asking for charity. We are asking for partnership in the truest sense,” he emphasized.
COP30, the world’s largest climate conference, aims to accelerate emission reductions, scale up climate finance, and support nations most affected by climate impacts.
