The Ghana Police Service has refuted claims that narcotic exhibits seized in Sekesua, Eastern Region, have disappeared. According to the Police, all 36 sacks of substances suspected to be narcotics, seized on September 30, 2025, are intact and securely kept at the Eastern Regional Command.
A Kia truck with registration number ER-760-23 was intercepted along the Sekesua road while transporting bags of dried substances concealed under sawdust. The vehicle was impounded and taken to the Sekesua Police Station, but the driver and his mate escaped custody and remain at large.
The Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has launched investigations into the conduct of officers involved in the case. Meanwhile, a manhunt is ongoing to re-arrest the suspects who absconded. The Police Service urged the public to disregard false reports that the exhibits had turned into sawdust, stressing that the impounded truck and exhibits are safely retained at the Eastern Regional Command.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in handling criminal cases, particularly narcotics-related matters. They assured the public of timely updates and are working to ensure that those responsible for the escaped suspects are held accountable.
