The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of the Interior and the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons (NACSA), has announced a nationwide gun amnesty program starting November 11, 2025, to address the growing spread of illicit firearms and gun-related violence. The program, set to end on December 31, 2025, allows citizens to surrender unregistered or illicit firearms without fear of arrest, interrogation, or prosecution.
NACSA expressed deep concern over the increasing proliferation of unregistered firearms, which have turned minor disputes into funerals and land disputes into wars. The commission emphasized that the program aims to promote national safety, reduce illicit firearms in circulation, and save lives. It’s not a witch hunt, but a national effort to choose peace over violence.
November 11, 2025, to December 31, 2025. No questions will be asked, and no charges will be pressed during the amnesty period. Reduce illicit firearms, enhance public safety, and promote national security. Citizens are urged to surrender unregistered firearms and spread awareness about the initiative to promote national unity and cooperation
