The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Football Association of Wales (FAW) have signed a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening coach development, sharing best practices, and exploring future footballing collaboration between the two nations. The partnership will provide Ghanaian coaches with access to the FAW’s renowned coach education pathway, with a selection of talented coaches set to travel to Wales in 2026 to begin their development journey.

GFA President, Kurt Okraku, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it marks an important step in Ghana’s journey to build a stronger, smarter, and more globally connected Ghanaian game. FAW CEO, Noel Mooney, echoed this sentiment, saying that collaborations like this create valuable opportunities to exchange ideas and support the continued growth and development of football across the world.

The partnership also includes exploring opportunities for international fixtures between youth and senior teams of both countries, which could provide mutual competitive advantages and increase exposure to different football styles. Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup makes this partnership particularly timely, with the GFA looking to enhance its coaching standards and player development.

This partnership is built on the mutual belief that football associations prosper through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and creating opportunities that transcend national boundaries.

Both the GFA and FAW view education and innovation as vital components to advancing their national football programs and nurturing young talent.

It reflects a shared vision to uplift football development through strategic partnerships and continuous learning.
